Two Good Things
What are the two good things? Wine and dogs. I like wine. I like dogs. Drinking wine WITH dogs? Now that’s an afternoon!
While the Douro Valley in Portugal, we spent a day touring a vineyard and later taking a boat ride on the river. The wine was delicious and we bought a case which miraculously made it back to Boston completely intact! The views were unreal (as you can see) an the wine tasty, but the best part of it all was the dogs! Our tour guide (who’s parents owned the vineyard) had one dog that stayed with us all day, but when we stopped at the main house on the vineyard for lunch, there were a number of other dogs that also lived there. My favorite (obviously) was the puppy.
Luna, was our co-pilot for the day. While at the vineyard, we’d walk in one door of a building and out another, and she’d say bye to us at the first door, then scurry around the outside to meet us at the other (she wasn’t allowed inside where the wine was made). She knew the tour route well enough to know how to meet up with her owner when he’d emerge outside.
I’m honestly not sure if Luna could see anything all day… her eyebrows are quite long!
This day day followed a string or ridiculous travel days (a canceled flight in Fez, an all night drive to Tangier, and then a 6am departure from Lisbon to drive to the Douro valley) and after 5 wines at lunch and a boat ride in the hot sun, we were ready to retire to our riverside hotel and sleep as long as we could. :)
